Labelexpo Europe 2013 to stage OMET 50th Anniversary celebrations and a special “mood for innovation
This year’s Labelexpo Brussels is a special one for OMET that has just turned 50. The show will be the occasion to announce interesting technological news for the label and packaging sectors and consolidated market results.
OMET’s innovation at Labelexpo hits in three different directions: the presentation on an international stage of the XFlex X6 with offset groups with sleeves, the return of the XFlex X4 in Brussels after the sale of an enviable number of machines all over the world and an exceptional news regarding the company’s tailored offer to flexible packaging converters.
While the XFlex X4 is a “must have” in the many areas of the world with a booming economy and a strong and stable demographic growth like many Asia Pacific countries, it was still capable to gain market share in more established markets like Eastern Europe and Russia. Being the perfect product for start-up companies with low investment budgets and inexperienced personnel, the XFlex X4 has turned out to be the right product to increase productivity rapidly with a limited impact on the operations overall costs. The XFlex X4 will handle in Brussels some interesting print jobs, which enhance the potential of the machine in terms of quality and reliability.
But XFlex in OMET is first of all the X6, the machine that “shocked” the printing business in 2007 and is still an incomparable jewel of technology, ease of use and bright results. The configuration presented at Labelexpo Europe 2013 is a mix of flexo and offset technology in the most typical spirit of OMET, who was a pioneer and is still a devoted supporter of multi-process technology. The newly born offset units are equipped with light sleeves to increase further the machine benefits in terms of rapidity of change, user-friendliness and general ergonomics.
The XFlex X6 with sleeve offset is typically dedicated to packaging printers who need to rely on offset to reach the maximum replicability of printed works. The mix of offset and flexo allows to take advantage of the plus of both, including for the second the low cost of pre-press, the ease of ink management and the inner process flexibility. The XFlex X6 in the flexo+offset configuration is offered in widths up to 670 mm.
To respond better to and offer a valid alternative for packaging converters using sheet-fed or CI presses, OMET is also integrating in its offer the Varyflex presses in larger widths, up to 850; this major overhaul has the objective to bring the most famous multi-process, modular in-line machine by OMET in direct competition with traditional larger presses for packaging printing offering, for a change, faster start-up, reduced wastage at makeready, interchangeability of processes, all-in-one-pass quality printing results.
Counting on such a technological “parterre” OMET could not but build around it an innovative booth using uncommon materials and a daring architecture. The stand will be strongly imprinted on the company’s 50th Anniversary, on the route that led OMET to Brussels in 2013 and on the path to the future achievements. For the show days, OMET is preparing a few initiatives for the public attending the demos and will be the perfect host for anybody who is in search of the right solution for its business.
OMET’s sale staff will welcome guests in Hall 6 H90.

INNOVATION ACCORDING TO PRATI COMPANY, AT LABELEXPO EUROPE 2013
SA Dual Turret, STARplus and VEGAplus IML: new forms generated by the same DNA
At what is the major event for the entire European and global label industry, Labelexpo Europe, PRATI Company presents (Booth C60, Hall 5) the very latest solutions developed by its R&D department, which show how the ideal of innovation pursued by the Company is measureable not only according to the “length” of its technological path, but also according to the “extent” of its expansion into constantly new sectors and segments.
The way the Company is approaching Brussels is marked by founded optimism, as is confirmed by Chiara Prati, Sales Director of PRATI Company: “Following what is a completely counter trend with respect to the economic crisis, over recent years the company has grown exponentially. 2012 was our record year in terms of sold units and the turnover for the first six months of 2013 has more than doubled compared to the previous year. The interest shown towards us by operators most closely focused on cutting-edge technologies in the industry is clearly evident from the fact that, even before officially revealing them to the world market, we have already received orders for the systems to be presented at the show. We are therefore making preparations to put ourselves in the position to promptly cater to the demand for these machines, which could well be higher than we had initially expected”.
With regard to Commodity labels PRATI Company looks with interest to the low value added segment of the label industry and will endeavor to transform it thanks to the revolutionary STARplus machine. The Company is in fact among the very few manufacturers in the world able to provide an alternative solution developed for customers that do not need an inspection system. It uses a glueless technology during lane's hooking and uses labels (with optional ID) to close the rolls, which means big savings for the label printers in consumables and makes the entire process very clean and eco-friendly. And all this while always ensuring perfect tensioning of the finished reels.
The STARplus off-line turret (four shafts) works in-line with any printing and converting machine. Its full servo technology makes it fit for the new ECO very thin materials, too. It also ensures high speed and perfect cycle continuity thanks to quick and automatic spindle change. A complete job change over needs only 15 minutes.
With an eye on more traditional segments, PRATI Company also presents the SA Dual Turret semi-automatic rewinding system, which fits to the latest-generation SATURN and JUPITER models; thanks to its double shaft, production outputs are increased by 50%.
This automation cuts down the time required to remove the finished rolls and prepare the new operating cycle.
It is on show with the die-cutting unit for pre-printed and plain labels for working cycles optimization.
At Labelexpo, PRATI Company officially enters the packaging industry; its brand new ALHENA IML series is focused on one of the segments most strongly affected by technological value added: In-Mould-Labelling (IML).
ALHENA IML converting machine accommodates large mother reels, it’s equipped with re-register die and a conveyor unit which conveys the labels to the stacker, where they are automatically stacked to make packaging easier for the operator.
Aware of the potential expressed by these innovative systems, PRATI Company is therefore preparing for Labelexpo, in the conviction of managing to attract the interest of the discerning Brussels public, thanks also to the attractive news presented on the Green and High Security zones.
PRATI COMPANY PROFILE
Founded and directed by an engineering mind, PRATI Company is currently recognized as global technology leader in the label industry.
Its production philosophy is centered on quality excellence, on long-lastingness/reliability and on the maintenance-free principle behind all its systems, which optimize their production output and cost-effectiveness.
Such high standards derive from the Company’s ability to manage in house all the different stages (design/prototyping/production/marketing/after-sales assistance) in the life of its products. In over 40 years of business activity, the company has developed systems for all traditional segments (post-print finishing; personalization; inspection; die-cutting; matrix stripping; rewinding, cutting; overprinting) and is forcefully entering neighboring sectors of the label industry.
With subsidiaries all over the world (Italy, USA and Latin America) and over 2300 machines installed to date worldwide, PRATI Company operates at global level, gradually gaining shares on advanced markets (which consider quality a crucial requisite) and on emerging markets (which are quickly beginning to think along the same lines).
